Weakend Chart Preview

This time last year, the #1 album sold a paltry 44k and it took 25k to make the Top 10. This year, #1 may hit six digits, but the rest of the chart appears to be much weaker with as low as 18k likely for the #10 spot. In what's beginning to sound like a broken record, Adele logs a 16th at the top, this week tying the Titanic soundtrack for the most weeks at #1 since 1998. The next milestone, and one she will likely catch, is the 20 weeks set by The Bodyguard soundtrack in 1992-’93. Far off in the distance, however, is the West Side Story soundtrack, which held the #1 spot for more than any other album, an unbelievable 54 weeks in 1962-’63 and a record that will likely never be surpassed. It should be noted that all four of these titles are distributed by Sony Music. Here's how it looks headed into the weekend:
