Introducing Scion Records

SCION ON THE DOTTED LINE: Toyota’s Scion A/V is expanding to become a “fully developed music company,” according to details shared with Digital Music News. What’s different about this label is that acts signed to it retain 100% ownership of their recordings, which will be distributed for free. The Scion roster includes The Melvins, Dam Funk, Steve Aoki, Switch and King Kahn. The company is hosting an invite-only conference in today at the Hollywood Renaissance. Scion’s involvement with artists dates back to 2003; during that time, the company has worked with more than 1,000 artists, generating more than 50 releases and 40 music videos. Said Manager of Sales Promotions said Jeri Yoshizu, "Having worked with so many credible, underground artists, Scion not only gained tremendous integrity with the artistic community, but also the desire to move to the next level with regard to a more complete relationship with the artist."
