SHOOT THE PIANO PLAYER: Rocket Pictures partners Elton John and David Furnish are teaming with Billy Elliott playwright Lee Hall on Rocketman, a biopic based on the rock superstar’s life, according to Nikki Finke’s Deadline.com, whose scoop we are merely recycling. The “biographical musical fantasy” will combine John’s life and his music, with the singer/songwriter serving as executive producer in creating a film that will follow his life story "from his beginnings as a child musical prodigy to a rock star who rebelled against his strict upbringing, wore outrageous costumes and became a global icon." Guy Pearce and Ewan McGregor are two of the names Deadline's Mike Fleming reports could play Elton. (9/21p)
