Lil Wayne Album to Drop after VMAs

A HARD WAYNE’S GONNA DROP: Lil Wayne will make his eagerly awaited new Cash Money/Universal Republic album, Tha Carter IV, available digitally at midnight after this Sunday’s (8/28) MTV VMAs, on which he’ll perform. The album will be available on iTunes, Amazon.com and other digital outlets. The physical album will hit stores Monday, Aug. 29. Lil Wayne's Grammy-winning Tha Carter III was the best-selling album of 2008, debuting with more than a million sales. He spent most of 2010 in a New York jail after pleading guilty to a weapons charge. Lil Wayne is up for two VMA awards at the ceremony, which is scheduled to air live from L.A.’s Nokia Theatre, with Lady Gaga, Adele, Chris Brown and Pitbull also scheduled to perform. There will be no single host this year because MTV says it will be experimenting with a "nontraditional format." (8/22a)
