The Shins Sign to Columbia

INDIE NO MORE: Longtime Sub-Pop band The Shins have signed to Columbia Records, and will undertake a series of intimate club appearances, starting Aug. 8 in Eugene, OR, with dates in Portland, San Francisco, Toronto, Philadelphia, Boston and Pensacola, FL. These shows represent the band’s first outings since May 2009. The set list will likely feature material from the long-awaited fourth Shins album, which singer/songwriter James Mercer will finish after the group’s current shows. It will be released next year on Aural Apothecary/Columbia, the first since the Ian Montone-managed band’s 2007, Grammy-nominated gold-certified Wincing the Night Away.
