Peas' Halftime Show

PEAS IN OUR TIME: Reviews were mixed on the Black Eyed Peas’ 12-minute Super Bowl halftime show, but most agreed it was a spectacular production, though the band itself seemed to get upstaged by special guest Usher leaping over will.i.am for an amazing, better-than-James Brown split highlighting his version of “OMG.” For those who bet the under, the Peas came out with the expected “I Gotta Feeling” before segueing into “Boom Boom Pow,” “Where is the Love?” “The Time (Dirty Bit)” and “Pump It,” interspersed around Slash joining Fergie for a caterwauling snippet of “Sweet Child o’ Mine.” The blinking set seemed to be inspired by the movie Tron. It marked the first time the Super Bowl halftime show featured hip-hop since 2004, the year of Janet Jackson’s infamous wardrobe malfunction, with Justin Timberlake and Diddy. A Forbes report confirmed the band received no pay for the performance, but got money for the production and travel expenses. We’ll see if they experience any sales spikes.
