Pittman to Clear Channel

CAN INTERNET SAVE THE RADIO STAR? Former MTV and AOL CEO and broadcasting vet Bob Pittman has been named Chairman of Clear Channel’s Media and Entertainment Platforms. Pittman has also made a personal equity investment in the company. He will work with the newly formed Operating Committee of the Board of Directors to leverage CC’s media assets and develop a digital strategy for the radio giant. Pittman will continue in his role as founding member of private equity firm Pilot Group. Pittman, who started in radio as an announcer when he was 15, commented: "This offers a real opportunity to enhance the experience for consumers, provide powerful marketing opportunities for advertising partners, and develop new, high-growth digital businesses for the company that builds on the 12 million unique monthly visitors we already reach online. And maybe even break Duran Duran all over again.” (11/15a)
