ARCHIVAL REMAINS: Warner Music Group is excavating their archives of photographs, documents and memorabilia in an attempt to monetize those discoveries, the N.Y. TimesTim Arango explains in this piece, which ran yesterday. Under the direction of Edgar Bronfman Jr. and communications czar Will Tanous, some of the artifacts that have been unearthed include Ray Charles’ original recording contract (which he signed with an “X”), Ahmet Ertegun’s handwritten history of Atlantic Records, Elektra cover art by famed children’s illustrator Maurice Sendak and never-before-seen early photos of Led Zeppelin.
