Hands vs. Wormsley/Zuckerberg vs. Saverin

DEFRIENDED: Lattman isn’t the only reporter to get a kick out of the trial. Tracy Corrigan has posted a wicked-clever commentary on Telegraph.co.uk in which she notes a fundamental parallel in plotlines between Hands vs. Wormsley and Zuckerberg vs. Saverin as portrayed in The Social Network. “It is a crying shame when old friends fall out over money,” Corrigan writes. “It is even worse when they fail to settle grievances privately and decorously. [But] when business empires are at stake, such clashes can make great entertainment… What is so delicious about this case is Hands's willingness to put his own reputation on the line in an effort to bring down his former friend and adviser, David Wormsley… Mr Hands claims that he paid too much because he was misled into believing there was another bidder. That may explain his motivation, but I don't see how it can absolve him of all responsibility. It is the job of a smart buyer not to overpay, whether or not bigger idiots are said to be lurking in the wings." (10/20a)
