Most Americans don't buy digi-content

DISCONNECT: In its latest research, NPD Group found that just 25% of American consumers over the age of 13 purchased music downloads, movies, videogames or any other online media during the last three months. Said NPD mouthpiece Russ Crupnick, speaking at Next BIG Nashville,: "For many who are connecting, it is not about the flashiest apps, but more about the fundamentals like web browsing and email," adding that most of those who did connect or download did it from a desktop or laptop rather than a mobile device. Crupnick offered more tidbits, according to Digital Music News: During the last three months, 6% connected with a videogame player, 4% connected via smartphone, and 2% connected via a Blu-ray player or a digital video player such as Apple TV or Roku. "What we learned in our research is that while some people already experience the world in a connected way, most do not," Crupnick concluded. (9/30a)
