Faxon makes EMP int'l move

CULTURE SHOCK: While this wasn’t the big announcement we’d been expecting from new EMI chief Roger Faxon, it indicates he’s still paying attention to the nuances of his previous gig. Longtime EMI Music Publishing Australia MD John Anderson, who’s stepping down from his job next month, will be succeeded by EMP Spain MD Santiago Menendez-Pidal, who’ll be based in Sydney, where he’ll learn to spread Vegemite over his tapas. “Santiago has demonstrated time and again his great creative and commercial acumen,” said Faxon, to whom Menendez-Pilal will report. “What sets him apart is his passion for music and an endless desire to build greater and greater opportunities for the songwriters he represents. And I’m told his English lessons are coming along nicely.” (7/21a)
