UMG, WMG make nice with Playlist.com

DOUBLE PLAY: Project Playlist, the parent company of Playlist.com, which lets users create playlists with streams aggregated from online sources both legit and unauthorized, has settled copyright infringement lawsuits with UMG and Warner Music. "While it was unfortunate that legal action was necessary, we are pleased to have resolved this litigation in an amicable manner," a UMG spokesman told said in a statement. Universal has reportedly agreed to license its songs for streaming on Playlist.com, joining Sony Music and former litigant EMI, and Warner will reportedly follow suit, though the company has yet to make it official.
