30STM bomb scare

THE UNHURT LOCKER: More than 200 guests were in attendance at the Hive on Melrose to view a preview of Thirty Seconds to Mars’ upcoming film Artifact when a bomb scare interrupted the proceedings, leading to evacuation of the nightspot. The incident occurred as the band was accepting a $16,000 check from a fan who’d won an auction for backstage passes to a show on behalf of the Red Cross. It was then that a suspicious man with a large, wrapped box approached frontman Jared Leto and, screaming gibberish, threw the package at the front man’s feet. Acting decisively, Leto grabbed the man by his arm and escorted him through the back door in an effort to pacify him. Realizing he was clearly delusional, Leto led him back outside with his package before locking the door and proceeding with the event. You’ll find more coverage of the incident, including handheld video footage, on AltPress.com. The video is embedded below. (2/5a)
