Chatter has it that Mariah Carey is returning to Sony Music, reuniting with L.A. Reid at Epic Records. Roger Friedman reports that Carey is done at Universal, where her last album, Me. I Am Mariah... Chanteuse, struggled to connect with an audience, selling under 250K. Having Reid oversee her musical makeover while the diva steps in for Celine Dion at Caesar's in Las Vegas seems like a plausible blueprint for the reimagining of Brand Carey. We're hearing it's close but not yet a done deal, and that Reid is looking forward to overseeing the reanimation of Mimi as he seeks to add star power to his roster of burgeoning new talent.
