D-DAY

Sony Music chief and legendary music man Doug Morris will be deliver the keynote interview at Midem 2015 on June 6, which happens to be a red-letter date in Franco-American history—you can look it up, boys and girls. During the Q&A, to be headlined “Lessons Learned,” Morris will look back on his decades of experience in music, creativity, management and business. “I knew very early that I wanted to spend my life in the music business and be part of the rock culture of that time” Morris says. “And that is the life I had, managing talent and creativity, leading change in the music business. It is now the right time to talk about the lessons I learned along the way. And I can’t think of a better occasion than Midem to share such learning with the global music community.” The keynote will be conducted by Rupert Younger, Director of the Oxford University Centre for Corporate Reputation, part of the university’s Saïd Business School. In March 2013, Morris delivered the lecture “From Adele to Zeppelin: Managing Creativity and Change in the Music Business” at Saïd, whose Peter Cook noted at the time that Doug is “widely regarded as the most influential music executive in the industry,” and, of course, “a sweet-talkin’ guy.”
