As the drumroll leading up to the launch of Apple/Beats intensifies, Spotify has countered by repeating the offer it experimented with last year: three months of premium service for a 99-cent charge on your credit charge of choice. At the end of the trial period, you’ll be bumped up to the normal $9.99 monthly rate, or you can opt out. Spotify has been criticized for not requiring a credit card for free-tier sign-up, which makes it more difficult for the service to convert users to premium. But that’s a non-issue as long as the 99-cent deal continues.
