Our numbers crunchers have done the math, and they tell us that Spotify’s paid steams have six to eight times the value of free streams—that’s as close as they could determine. Much of the confusion about the difference between the two is that for some unexplained reason streams appear on royalty statements as a single item rather than being broken out separately.
