Jason Mackenroth, drummer for Rollins Band from 1998 to 2004, died on Sunday, 1/3, in Henderson, Nev., after a long battle with prostate cancer. He was 46.
The Sacramento-born Mackenroth performed on seven albums and four world tours with Rollins Band, after which he released two solo albums and spent eight years with the Blue Man Group's Las Vegas production.
A longtime crusader for music education, Mackenroth gave aspiring drummers private lessons over the years and performed at KISS Night In Las Vegas III, a 2014 benefit for the nonprofit Imagine, which funds music-ed. programs in area schools.
A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help his family. A memorial service will be held in the Las Vegas area later this month.
