COLUMBIA'S ESHAK, MAJID AWARDED SVP A&R STRIPES

Columbia Records President of A&R Mark Williams has named Justin Eshak and Imran Majid SVPs of A&R. Each was previously VP of the department.

Williams describes Eshak as “the modern A&R executive in every way, [with] proven instincts and passion for identifying new talent along with his understanding of the way fans relate to music in our current environment.”

Majid’s “understanding of the modern approach to A&R has made him an integral part of our company,” says Williams, citing the new SVP’s “enthusiasm and passion for music and discovery of talent in an ever changing landscape.”

Both execs thank Rob Stringer and Williams in their quotes, Eshak praising them for “their continued support and guidance, Majid for engendering “an atmosphere where the artist's creative vision and freedom are at the forefront of everything.”

Since joining Columbia in 2013, Eshak has been involved in the signing and development of artists including Hozier, Leon Bridges, Ruth B, Cherub and The Chainsmokers (the last-named alongside Adam Alpert of Disruptor Records).

Majid’s credits include Rachel Platten, DeJ Loaf, DJ Snake & Lil Jon's "Turn Down For What," among others. He, too, came to the label in 2013 following a stint as director of A&R for Republic.
