The Highest-Grossing Films Over the Weekend Domestically

Warner Bros.' Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice remained the #1 highest-grossing film in America this weekend with $52m—a 68% decrease from its $170m bow—the fifth largest drop ever for a film opening with more than $100m. But the film's poor reviews (and 29% score at Rotten Tomatoes) didn't stop it from surpassing $680m worldwide.

Pure Flix's God's Not Dead 2, which stars Melissa Joan Hart as a school teacher who faces legal trouble after answering a student's question about Jesus, served as the only debut in the Top 5.

1. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (Warner Bros.) $52m 4,256/$12,309 avg. (week 2)
2. Zootopia (Disney) $20m 3,698/$5,408 avg. (week 5)
3. My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 (Universal) $11m 3,179/$3,501 avg. (week 2)
4. God's Not Dead 2 (Pure Flix) $8.1m 2,419/$3,350 avg. (debut)
5. Miracles From Heaven (Sony/Columbia) $7.5m 3,155/$2,393 avg. (week 3)

On a more positive note, Richard Linklater's Everybody Wants Some!!—a comedic look at college baseball players in the 1980s—hit just five theaters in limited release and earned a $17k per theater average.
