Two imprints at Jason Iley’s Sony U.K. are celebrating sales milestones this week, as Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop The Feeling” hits platinum (600k), and Craig David and Big Narstie’s “When The Bassline Drops” reaches gold (400k).
Released via Colin Barlow’s RCA in Blighty on 6/5, “Can’t Stop The Feeling” has been at #1 on Radiomonitor’s airplay charts for nine weeks. Outside of the U.K., where it stayed at #2 on the Official Singles Chart for four weeks, the track is #1 in 11 countries.
Elsewhere, Insanity Records—the joint venture between Andy Varley’s Insanity Management, Sony U.K. and indie company Speakerbox—is celebrating hitting the 400k mark with David’s comeback track.
David was spotted entertaining guests at Sony’s annual summer party in London last week, where he and Bee Gees’ Barry Gibb whiled away the evening swilling pints of bitter and making Brexit jokes.
