THE DEATH OF PRINT JOURNALISM: RAGE AGAINST THE CESSPOOL EDITION

Caroline’s Prophets of Rage—the musicians of Rage Against the Machine, hip-hop icons Chuck D and B-Real and DJ Lord—have emerged with their first single, and it’s clear that they’ve lost none of their sonic power or social purpose. The band kicked off its new tour with a stop in Cleveland, just in time to tweak RNC convention attendees. Their HITS cover appearance should give them plenty more to protest about.

Spotify’s Daniel Ek, our Contents page VIP, has got to be feeling pretty upbeat as the streamery notches 37m paid subscribers and a projected 70% conversion rate from trial users. It’s further evidence that the free-to-paid progression is genuine and that the new streaming economy is approaching maturity. Still, Ek probably wishes he could convert this HITS Contents page shout-out into some other publication.
