OCEAN POPS UP WITH FREE BUNDLE
FOR FANS

In the wake of his release of new album Blonde on Apple Music/iTunes (following a feature-length video with music), Def Jam's Frank Ocean has surprised fans in L.A., NYC, Chicago and London with pop-up stores featuring a mylar-wrapped giveaway bundle of the album (on CD) and his highly anticipated "zine," Boys Don't Cry. The latter, actually a lovingly produced book filled with poetry and other writings and photos—the ubiquitous Kanye West is among the contributors—is labeled issue 001, so it seems more are on the way.

Fans reportedly lined up around the block at the West Hollywood store, where security guards stood watch, Blonde played on the speakers and the silvery packages were the single item lining the shelves. You can read more about the stores in the L.A. Times report here.

Ocean may have made fans wait for the record, but he's rewarding their patience in creative new ways.
