MEGHAN TRAINOR TO ANNOUNCE GRAMMY NOMS ON 12/6

The Recording Academy has drafted Meghan Trainor to announce the Grammy Awards’ big four categories on CBS This Morning at 8:30am ET on 12/6. The rest of the nominations will be announced via the Grammys’ Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat pages plus Grammy.com.

Trainor, named Best New Artist at this year’s ceremony, will reveal the nominees in the Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year and Best New Artist categories.

Since the elimination of the live televised concert that would feature the Grammy noms, the Academy has looked for different ways to get the news out about the nominations. Academy President and CEO Neil Portnow recently told HITS they would be more focused on social media than traditional media to get the word out this year.

“We’ll roll out the nominations through a combination of social media and using the CBS platforms,” Portnow said.

Last year, the Los Angeles Times had the nominations in print before all others. Will we see a repeat of that or will they keep the roll-out within the CBS family? Stay tuned.
