DECEMBER IS HIP-HOP HEAVEN

The most prolific assembly of genre heavyweights in recent memory is set to release new material this month, to the joy of hip hop heads everywhere. December is officially LIT.

The festivities are led by King Drake, who is speculated to drop a set, but thanks to typical OVO secrecy all we know is his new project, More Life— a compilation album that will feature those recently released songs "Fake Love," "Two Birds, One Stone," and "Sneakin'"— is alleged to be coming in December. That collection, should it appear, will feature Drizzy plus jams from other artists on his OVO Sound label, like Partynextdoor and DVSN.

Tomorrow (12/2) brings a new Childish Gambino album on Glassnote; the following Friday (12/9), J. Cole—who inspired worldwide memes with his success by being referred to as the only artist who "went platinum with no features"—drops a project on his Dreamville/Roc Nation/Interscope imprint (it's now in preorder) and just this morning, Kid Cudi announced his new album was coming (via Republic) digitally on 12/16 with a physical release one week later, 12/23. Also coming on 12/16 is a new Gucci Mane record called The Return of East Atlanta Santa, which will be an Apple Music exclusive that will feature both Drake and Travis Scott.

As we've already been gifted with an unexpected Tribe Called Quest album via Epic Records on 11/11, it seems Q4 has turned into hip-hop heaven. Don't forget, this is just what we know about. December has evolved into the month of the surprise release, so the potential is certainly there for more.
