L.A. REID OUT AS CHARGES OF SEXUAL HARASSMENT SURFACE

Update here.

According to Variety, after a highly successful, nearly six-year run, L.A. Reid is stepping down as chief of Epic Records.

Reid has spent more than three decades in the music business, scoring hits as a musician and producer, heading labels, a label group and achieving fame as a TV personality and bestselling author.

After successful stints at LaFace, Arista and Island Def Jam, Reid had arrived at Epic in 2011 with virtually no roster to work with, and he proceeded to rebuild it essentially from scratch, signing and developing the new crop.

He doubled down on hip-hop, which began to bear fruit in a big way last year, when Epic scored #1 album debuts with Future, DJ Khaled, Travis Scott and A Tribe Called Quest, establishing the label as a hub for the genre at a time when hip-hop had begun to dominate the streaming platforms.

In mid-2016, Reid relocated the company from New York to L.A.
