UMPG TAKES EIGHT AT THE IVORS

Universal Music Publishing Group took home eight awards from the 62nd Annual Ivor Novello Awards in London celebrating song-writers across the globe. The pubco took home awards across a range of categories this year.

Winners included the great Bill Withers, who took home the PRS for Music Special International Award, which was presented by George Clinton. The International Achievement Award went to Florence Welch, and Best Contemporary Music honors were awarded to Skepta for his track "Man", co-written by UMPB's Josh Homme.

Other UMPG honorees included Gary Numan, who took home the Ivors Inspiration Award, Nitin Swahney who won the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Coldplay taking home the PRS Award for Music Most Performed Work for their song "Hymn for the Weekend."

Additionally, Britpop icons Pulp received the Outsanding Song Collection Award for their body of work.

UMPG Chairman and CEO Jody Gerson had this to say of the wins: "Today's success for UMPG at The Ivors recognizes the incredible caliber of songwriter talent and depth within our roster. For these songwriters and composers to be recognized by their peers is both thoroughly deserved and a reflection on how we have successfully positioned UMPG as the premier home for the world’s greatest songwriters."
