Grammy insiders report that a letter has gone out to MusiCares board members from Chairman Michael McDonald regarding recent allegations against the Recording Academy’s charitable arm.
In the letter, these insiders say, McDonald says that he and Academy Board Chairman John Poppo have retained a legal firm, Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP, to open an independent inquiry.
Without going into detail, McDonald further notes that the tenure of the accuser (ex-VP Dana Tomarken, who isn’t named in the letter) ended only after a full investigation. After providing some documentation of the charity’s successes, he concludes by assuring the community that MusiCares will continue to provide its vital services. Stay tuned.
