NEW CHANCE ALBUM: NOT THIS WEEK (UPDATE)

Chance the Rapper has tweeted that while he's been working on new music, it won't be dropping this week.

The new project, the artist noted in an interview with Greg Kot of the Chicago Tribune, follows the groundbreaking Coloring Book, which became the first streaming-only album to win a Grammy.

Chance is set to headline the Special Olympics 50th Anniversary Celebration in Chicago on Saturday. The Chicago native also produced the event, which features Usher, Jason Mraz and Smokey Robinson, among others.

In 2016, Coloring Book was released as an Apple Music exclusive for two weeks before becoming available for free everywhere. As for the new release, "Chance would say only that his new album will be out this week, not how it would be made available. He prefers to keep his options open."

Regarding his tentative collaboration with Kanye West, Chance explained, "I don’t know of a timeline on it yet, the trajectory of it, but he’s coming here to work on it some more. We’ve just started making it, but I don’t want to manipulate the situation and impose any time frame."
