GNR'S "RAIN" TOPS 1B VIEWS ON YOUTUBE

Ah, nostalgia! Remember the carefree days of bandanas, leather vests with no shirts and men spending more money on their hair than the women who loved them? There’s clearly a longing for Guns N’ Roses on YouTube, specifically “November Rain” which is the first music video from the 1990s to pass the 1b views mark.

Forbes noted the feat, adding that “November Rain” averaged nearly 560K views every day in 2017. It is the first video created before the YouTube era to receive 1b views. The video for “Sweet Child O' Mine" is the most-viewed YouTube video for a song from the 1980s, which is coming up on 700m views.

The $1m video for “November Rain,” released in 1992 by Geffen, was published online the last week of 2009; it topped the 1b views mark on Friday the 13th.

We’re not sure why “November Rain” stands out from the pack. Is it the Christian references? Slash’s visually out of sync guitar solo in the desert? The bygone era of indoor cigarette smoking? Maybe it’s just that people need a 10 minute break from the real world.
