LEGEND'S AN EGOT

John Legend became an EGOT Sunday night, taking home the Emmy Award for live variety special as a producer of NBC’s Jesus Christ Superstar Live In Concert. The show’s composers, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, also joined the grand slam of peer-voted award honorees.

Legend’s Emmy joins his 10 Grammys, the Oscar he won for “Glory” and his Tony for producing August Wilson’s Jitney. Jesus Christ Superstar Live In Concert received five Emmys in the ceremonies that lead up to this weekend’s grand event.

Among the other notable music winners at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremonies was Chance the Rapper, who received the outstanding original music and lyrics award for his SNL song “Come Back Barack.” The music supervision award went to Robin Urdang, Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino for the pilot of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

Emmys also went to Ramin Djawadi for his Game of Thrones “The Dragon and the Wolf” score, Carlos Rafael Rivera’s title music for Netflix’s Godless and Cyrille Aufort’s score for Hulu’s March Of The Penguins 2: The Next Step.
