Quality Control COO Kevin “Coach” Lee, left, QC CEO Pierre “Pee” Thomas and Motown GM Marc Byers said they’d look into sampling Rare Earth tracks only if someone explained the commercial potential of a 21-minute version of “Get Ready.”

Motown President Ethiopia Habtemariam accepted the Ebony Icon Award on Motown’s behalf while the label’s JamesDavis and Ne-Yo performed.
