Ariana Grande’s “7 Rings” has broken the Spotify all-time global record for total plays in a 24-hour period with 14,966,544 streamns on Friday (1/18), the track’s day of release.
That tally blows away the previous record, set by Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” on Christmas Eve 2018, which registered just north of attracted 10.8m streams. The only other track to break the 10m one-day mark was XXXTentacion’s “SAD!” last June.
Those nearly 15m streams will generate around $90k, MBW’s Tim Ingham calculated in his coverage.
The news delighted manager Scooter Braun, who held nothing back in his congratulatory tweet.
Official numbers are now in- @ArianaGrande's #7Rings now has the Spotify all time record for most streamed song within its first 24 hours with 14,966,544 streams!! 4 million more than the former record holder! History is being made! Congrats to the team & @ArianaGrande bravo!
