A HITS LIST MIXTAPE

Way back in the Walkman era, decades before it became a hip-hop term, the mixtape was a tangible object—a collection of the songs representing a particular moment in time to the person who made it. Like a mixtape, HITS List is the product of what we’ve been listening to—but in this case it’s the flapping of industry lips.

This week’s “hits” include Monte Lipman, who knows a thing or two about brother acts; iHeart’s four amigos, who like their bagels toasted; Joie Manda, a leading candidate for hardest-working man in showbiz; Michael Lang, who hopes to relive his youth this summer; and Ron Perry, who hasn’t yet joined the flock of Democratic presidential candidates—but there’s still time. And let’s find the right spot for the lobby bar at the Four Seasons Austin.

Now, what to put on Side B of the cassette? Maybe some Jonas Brothers, Kings of Leon and the new one from The Black Keys. We hear they're booked for Woodstock.

“Middle School” series pieces by Adam Greener: “Mix Tapes AP” original, $8,500; “Heavy Metals” print; edition of 10, $6,500. On display through 3/10 at Art Unified, Art on Paper. Booth 216, 299 South St., Pier 36, Downtown Manhattan
