A NIGHT AT THE OPERA

Regaling each other with tales of backstage antics at Three Tenors concerts are, from left, Ron Howard, Michele Anthony, CBS Films’ Terry Press, Universal Classics and Jazz CEO Dickon Stainer, White Horse Pictures CEO Nigel Sinclair and Universal Music Classics President Graham Parker.

Michele Anthony and the brass from Universal Classics and Jazz held a private screening of Ron Howard’s documentary Pavarotti: Genius is Forever at New York’s Whitby Hotel on Tuesday night. U Classics chiefs Dickon Stainer and Graham Parker praised Howard's deft storytelling, spotlighting Pavarotti the man as well as the unparalleled talent. Then the three lifted their voices in a fittingly operatic rendition of "Bei Mir Bist Du Schon." Somewhat later, Sir Lucian Grainge was properly attached to the machine that allowed him to descend from the ceiling wielding a thunderbolt. Ah, showbiz.
