SOCAL FIRE DANGER REMAINS EXTREME

With Santa Ana winds and extremely dry conditions continuing into Thursday, fires of varying sizes are raging across Southern California, including Riverside, Santa Clarita, Brea, Whittier, Lancaster, Calabasas, Long Beach, Fullerton, Nuevo, Jurupa Valley and, most recently, San Bernardino.
The National Weather Service issued an "extreme red flag warning" for Southern California through Thursday evening. The forecast is for strong winds with gusts up to 80 mph, as firefighters attempt to contain the Getty Fire in West L.A., and prevent it from rekindling and spreading beyond its existing 745 acres. The fire was 27% contained as of Wednesday afternoon.
Wednesday also saw the start of the Easy Fire in Simi Valley, still burning near the Reagan Library and in Thousand Oaks. That blaze quickly spread to a size of around 1,400 acres, threatening 7000 homes and forcing new evacuations in that area.
