THE VIEW FROM THE 55-YARD LINE

The Beaches
and Keith Urban performed at the 107th Canadian Grey Cup Sunday in frigid Calgary, Alberta, where the Winnipeg Blue Bombers trounced the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 33-12, snapping a 28-year championship drought. They last took home the Grey Cup in 1991, edging the Lower Ontario Draft Dodgers 10-7.

The Beaches’ managers—three-time Hamilton Music Award manager of the year nominees Marc Pollack and Jonathan Kalter—were on the sidelines during the game attempting to explain the rules of real football to the Canadians. They could repeatedly be heard screaming, “Twelve men on the field! Twelve men on the field!”

As the game was ending, The Beaches doused Marc and Jon with a 10-gallon (or 37.85 liter) vat of pure maple syrup in the Canadian equivalent of a Gatorade shower.
