ASCAP HOSTS PANEL WITH VOICES OF THE CULTURE

Vetran rapper T.I., new Recording Academy Chief Diversity Officer Valeisha Butterfield Jones and Columbia SVP Azim Rashid joined ASCAP Experience's Home Edition series for a panel to discuss the links between black music, social progress and the civil rights movement currently sweeping the nation and the biz.

Jones has over a decade of experience empowering diverse communities at the intersections of technology, politics and entertainment. Rashid has spent over 30 years amplifying some of the most vital Black voices in music. T.I. has used his platform to lead community transformation efforts throughout Atlanta, and he has supported countless philanthropic efforts through his non-profit Harris Community Works.

They covered the use of the word "urban" in great detail, Jones talked about implementing change at the Academy having just joined the team this spring, T.I. explained what it means to be a "voice of the culture" and really contribute to your community and Rashid evoked the words of Killer Mike to inspire courage.
