MURRAY SHANKS ONE

Attorney Peter Paterno takes a few swings at Bill Murray in a cease-and-desist letter chastising the comedian for using the Doobie Brothers’ “Listen to the Music” in an ad without licensing the track.

"It seems like the only person who uses our clients' music without permission more than you do is Donald Trump," Paterno writes.

William Murray Golf has been using the Doobies’ 1972 hit in an ad for a $50 polo called Zero Hucks Given. Before concluding his letter with a classic quote from Murray’s Caddyshack character, Paterno notes: “This is the part where I’m supposed to cite the United States Copyright Act, excoriate you for not complying with some subparagraph that I’m too lazy to look up and threaten you with eternal damnation for doing so. But you already earned that with those Garfield movies.”
