PRINE HONORED AS AMERICANA ARTIST OF THE YEAR

John Prine
has been named Artist of the Year at the 2020 Americana Music Association Honors & Awards. It’s the fourth time Prine has been so honored in the last 15 years.

The org’s selection of Prine as the artist most deserving of its highest annual honor is fitting on every conceivable level. During a career spanning five decades, he wrote and sang songs suffused with homespun wisdom and unflinching honesty, and several generations of songwriters, musicians and music lovers revered him for his inseparable artistry and humanity. Virtually everyone who crossed paths with Prine remembers him fondly as a smiling, shuffling force for good.

Prine’s final recording and first #1 single, “I Remember Everything,” is nominated for two Grammys: Best American Roots Performance and Best American Roots Song. The ballad, written with longtime collaborator Pat McLaughlin, was recorded last year in Prine’s living room with producer Dave Cobb (who’s up for a Grammy himself) and engineer Gena Johnson.
