NMAAM HOSTS RIBBON-CUTTING CEREMONY

The National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM) officially opened its doors with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting on MLK Day.

Located in the heart of downtown Nashville, the 56,000-square-foot facility will kick off weekend member and public tours on 1/23 and 1/30, respectively.

The ceremony was hosted by NMAAM President and CEO H. Beecher Hicks, III, and Board Chair Kevin Lavender. The virtual second half of the program is streaming on the institution's Facebook page.

The first museum to focus on music made by Black artists working in all genres, NMAAM is dedicated to preserving African-American music traditions and celebrating the central role African Americans have played in shaping American music.
