SOUNDEXCHANGE HEADS TO MONDO.NYC

SoundExchange will present a new slate of programs as a sponsor at Mondo.NYC 2021. Kicking off on 10/12 at 11am ET, the annual conference will begin with a conversation featuring SoundExchange President/CEO Michael Huppe speaking on the impact of the digital boom and his hope for the future before diving into three new initiatives.

Addressing the legal dynamics of neighboring rights and market size, the Panel on Neighboring Rights will explore how these concepts translate to business opportunities and will offer an overview of developments that could affect artist income.

The inaugural Influencers Sound-Off and Performance series will focus on the impact of legacy artists on music culture and business. Moderated by industry vet Tom Desavia, the multigenerational chat will feature John Doe of X, Willie Nelson’s daughter Amy Nelson and Cathy Guthrie, daughter of Arlo Guthrie and granddaughter of Woody Guthrie—founding members of Folk Uke. Doe and Folk Uke will wrap the conversation with a performance at Austin’s Continental Club.

Lastly, the Innovation Lab will feature leaders from tech startups who will explain how their teams are building innovative solutions that meet the needs of today’s independent musicians and rightsholders. The tech incubators will also present their products, demonstrating how they have the potential to benefit those making a living in music.

“It's a dynamic time for the music industry, marked by constant innovation and transformation. As the economics of listening continue to evolve, so, too, must our industry to meet the demands of a shifting landscape,” said Huppe.
