FOOS AS MOVIE STARS

Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters will make their theatrical acting debuts in the horror-comedy Studio 666, which will open 2/25 in more than 2,000 theaters.

Open Road Films has acquired worldwide rights to the film. It stars the Foos—Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett and Rami Jaffee—plus Whitney Cummings, Leslie Grossman, Will Forte, Jenna Ortega and Jeff Garlin. BJ McDonnell is the director.

In Studio 666, Foo Fighters move into an Encino mansion steeped in grisly rock 'n' roll history to record their 10th album. Once in the house, Grohl finds himself grappling with supernatural forces that threaten both the completion of the album and the lives of the band.

“After decades of ridiculous music videos and numerous music documentaries under our collective belts, it was finally time to take it to the next level—a full-length feature horror comedy film,” Grohl said. “Like most things Foo, Studio 666 began with a far-fetched idea that blossomed into something bigger than we ever imagined possible.”

The picture was filmed at the house where Foo Fighters recorded Medicine at Midnight. Jeff Buhler and Rebecca Hughes wrote the screenplay based on Grohl’s story.
