YE PULLED FROM GRAMMYS?

According to published reports, the Grammys have pulled the scheduled performance by Ye (the artist formerly known as Kanye West), allegedly due to his “online behavior.” The “behavior” in question: the artist/producer/fashion mogul’s highly publicized social-media and video attacks on ex Kim Kardashian and her boyfriend, SNL's Pete Davidson, as well as, most recently, Grammys host Trevor Noah, who’d characterized Ye’s prior posts as abuse. Ye’s Instagram account was yanked as a result of these outbursts. Some of his defenders believe the contretemps with Noah (host of The Daily Show) is what led to the decision to keep him off the Grammy stage.

However justified, the move is another bad look for the Recording Academy. This is especially true given that insiders say the recent expansion of the Top 4 categories from eight to 10 nominees—in its smoke-filled secret “big room”—was specifically done to accommodate Ye. Academy boss Harvey Mason Jr., in fact, made a mission of courting Ye for the show, allegedly vouchsafing top-tier noms as an enticement. After all that, he’s now obligated to boot the star from the performance lineup. The shitshow continues.

Speaking of online behavior, remember when Ye posted a video of himself urinating on a Grammy statuette in 2020? That wasn’t a red flag or anything.
