FLORENCE HAS A FEVER COMING ON

Florence + the Machine will play arenas in September and October to support the release of fifth album Dance Fever (Republic), due 5/13.

The Live Nation-promoted tour opens 9/2 in Montreal, stops at Madison Square Garden on 9/16 and wraps at the Hollywood Bowl on 10/14. Arlo Parks, Sam Fender, King Princess, Yves Tumor, Japanese Breakfast and Wet Leg take turns as show opener for the CAA-repped band.

Pre-sales begin Tuesday. The public on-sale starts Friday. A dollar from every ticket sold will benefit Chose Love to aid refugees worldwide.

Dance Fever was recorded in London during the pandemic. Just before the dawn of COVID-19, Florence Welch had become fascinated by choreomania, a Renaissance phenomenon in which groups of people—sometimes thousands—danced wildly to the point of exhaustion, collapse and death. The imagery resonated with Welch, who had been touring nonstop for more than a decade, and in lockdown felt oddly prescient.

Florence, Jack Antonoff and Dave Bayley of Glass Animals produced the album. Videos for three of its tracks have been released (see below). Deney Terio was not involved in the project.
