DISNEY+ SCOOPS UP ELTON DOC

R.J. Cutler will be filming Elton John’s final North American show, on 11/20 at Dodger Stadium, for the official doc Goodbye Yellow Brick Road: The Final Elton John Performances and the Years That Made His Legend. Disney+ will be the first to stream the film.

The doc, directed and produced by David Furnish, will include archival footage from the early 1970s, new interviews and a present-day look at the superstar and his family. Furnish, who is John's husband, directed the 1997 doc Elton John: Tantrums & Tiaras and produced the biopic Rocketman.

“As it has for so many others, Elton John’s music has had deep meaning for me for decades, and this opportunity is nothing short of a career highlight and privilege,” said Cutler, whose documentary subjects have included Billie Eilish and Marlon Brando.

The film may play festivals and receive a theatrical release prior to streaming on Disney+.
