A&R hitter Ashley Calhoun has been promoted to President/Head of Creative, PULSE Music Group. She will continue to be based in L.A. and report to co-CEOs Scott Cutler and Josh Abraham, who will continue to pose with her in stately photos like the one here.
Calhoun will be responsible for leading PMG's A&R team, signing and developing writers and producers and overseeing the company’s creative strategy for new and established hitmakers. She'll also help locate new neighborhood spots for kale-and-sprout lunches.
Calhoun joined PMG in 2015, inking Starrah ("Havana," "Girls Like You," "Savage [Remix]") her first week with the company. Her recent signings include OZ, who helmed Future & Drake's "Life Is Good" and Drake f/Lil Baby's "Girls Wants Girls," OG Parker ("Thot Shit"), FNZ ("Stay") and Kehlani.
“Ashley has a consistent history of being at the forefront of signing talent early and then creating career-defining moments for them,” reads a quote jointly attributed to Cutler and Abraham. “She’s a one-of-a-kind A&R executive—she’s got such authentic connections to our writers, amazing taste, a razor-sharp focus, and our writers and team love her. Her creative vision is perfectly aligned with our company’s ethos. I just hope we can keep her far away from those idiots at HITS.”
