POLLSTAR STATS: LIVE BIZ IS BOOMING

This year’s Top 100 tours in North America have set records in four key metrics: total gross, average gross, average tickets sold and ticket price, according to data released today by Pollstar, which covered the period between 11/18/21 and 5/18/22.

With Bad Bunny’s El Último Tour Del Mundo 2022 leading the way with a gross of $120.1m, ticket sales for the Top 100 tours hit $1.69b, a spike of $140m over 2019, the last year not affected by COVID 19.

Concert grosses are up 24.4%, average ticket prices spiked 17.8% and per-show average tickets sold rose 5.6%. Capacity sell-through for the Top 100 North American tours returned to 2019 levels at 92.7%.

Coming in behind Bad Bunny on the Top 10 highest-grossing tours in North America are Elton John, BTS, Morgan Wallen, Eric Church, the Eagles, John Mayer, Genesis, Garth Brooks and Dua Lipa.

Pollstar's report will appear in its special mid-year issue, which will be posted online Monday.

Anecdotally, we hear more weed has been smoked at concerts than in any year since 1974.
