The David Bowie estate has announced BOWIE ON THE BLOCKCHAIN, an NFT offering in partnership with P2P marketplace OpenSea and We Love the Arts, a Web3 venture involving artist manager and We Few Group exec Andrew D. Keller and film producer Joaquin Acrich.
Nine artists—Defaced, FEWOCiOUS, Glam Beckett, JAKE, Jonathan Wolfe, Lirona, Nadya Tolokonnikova of PussyRiot, Osinachi and Young & Sick—will pay homage to the late legend with NFT pieces intended to represent Bowie's impact.
“David Bowie is an icon and a trailblazer in every way, and we’re honored to partner with his team to bring his legacy into Web3,” reads a statement from OpenSea's Ryan Foutty. “This collection combines some of the most groundbreaking NFT artists with Bowie artifacts to bring a new generation of fans together in Web3.”
The sale begins 9/13 via OpenSea. Profits will benefit CARE—Bowie's widow, the Somali-born Iman, serves as the organization's first global advocate.
