KRIM OF THE CROP

Rick Krim, who will be taking over for Jon Landau as head of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominating committee, has a long and storied history in the music-and-TV business. We, meanwhile, have a thick folder of photos tracking that career, none of which he wants us to republish here. Sorry, man.

Currently a founding partner of the Metallica-backed Black Squirrel Partners, Krim broke into the entertainment business at MTV at the dawn of its existence. During his 12 years there (1982-94), he rose through the Talent & Artist Relations department to VP before moving into music publishing at EMI, where he signed and developed the Goo Goo Dolls, Train, Tonic and the Verve Pipe.

After a six-year stint there, he returned to TV as EVP, Talent & Music Programming at VH1, serving for 13 years, during which he put You Oughta Know, Storytellers, VH1 Divas and Hip-Hop Honors on the air. A short stop at Republic Records was followed by another stint in publishing, as co-president of Sony/ATV, where he created his own Krim Music + Media in 2019.

Among his executive producer credits are the documentary Anvil and the TV biopic CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story. He's been the talent producer on the last three HOF induction-ceremony TV shows, before which he was an advisor for several years. Krim has been on the R&RHOF nominating committee since 2008.

"Rick has a rare combination of knowledge and passion that's made him a valuable member of our nominating committee," RRHOF chief John Sykes told us. "What makes Rick the perfect person for this position is that, like Jon Landau, he can manage a diverse group of committee members without leading with his own opinion."
